I smell like a hamburger

I have officially been disciplined to head immediately to the shower when I arrive home from FLIP every night. I smell like hamburgers. Although Rudy the Dog, (she likes to be formally addressed as such) doesn’t seem to mind as much as my wife.

FLIP is now open, just about a week now. We went from first to 4th gear right away, and for our first weekend cooked for over 1200 people. Of course this is good news. And for those of you who know anything about opening a new restaurant, it means total chaos behind the scenes.

We actually have one kitchen member designated to solely prepare sweet potato tots, which has turned out to be a process, to say the least.

I will be at FLIP every day this week. So please stop by, grab a milkshake or a cocktail, and say hello at my personally designed “burger bar”. Here, you can sit upfront with me and chef Mark Nanna. Please come with an open mind for colorful language !

That's great that it's been so successful so far. When we went a week ago my wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed the burgers, sides and shakes. And what about the shakes? How many - and how many different kinds - have been made so far?

Glad to hear the opening has been so successful. So how long until will you maintain the current menu before rolling out Phase 2?

Is there a wait for lunch? My dad is in town, and I'm using that as an excuse to take a longer lunch and get out of the building...

Chef

I was in Flip today, and it was great to see you there! I proved to be a little embarrassing for my co-workers, as I was a little star struck. I cannot wait to bring in the husband and Chloe. Happy to see, and taste, your success.
Congrats!

I came in last Friday for lunch and the food was wonderful! The onion rings were delicious. Unfortunately, the milk shake bar was a little backed up and I had to be somewhere so I didn't have time to wait. I'll definitely be back to try one though.

Oh how I wish your restaurant was in Scottsdale, AZ!

Congratulations on such early success (as if there was ever any doubt!)

Congratulations and I could think of worse things to smell of than hamburgers. I will just have to admire your burgers and your success from over here in Australia. Good luck and keep up the good work my friend.

Cheers

Hey Richard!

I e-mailed you the photo my friends and i took with you at flip today (i sent it to info@richardblais.net) just in case the one on your iphone didn't turn out so great.

Let me know if you want me to send it somewhere else...

Again, loved the visit to flip and I'll definitely be back.

Next time I'm in Atlanta I'm going to stop by Flip and try it out. A boutique burger bar just opened up here in St. Louis (It's called, creatively, "Burger Bar" in the Lumiere casino) and I'd love to taste your take on the concept.

Went to FLIP on Saturday for lunch, the place was SO neat! The decor is very trendy and the music was pumping. My girlfriend said, "Wow Richard looks just like he does on tv!" We had a Philly burger and a rBQ burger, they were great. GF also has a krispy kreme shake for desert and loved it.

We stopped in today and tried three different burgers: the lamburger, the Burger of the Day (felafel), and the Philly cheesesteak burger. Oh, and the onion rings...and the smoked Caesar.

The salads were like little jewels...perfect size, beautifully presented.

The burgers? Size-wise, they're appear to be a nice compromise. Small enough so that you can eat more than one (if you're hungry or in a sharing mood) - big enough to satisfy without stuffing. Sliders, they're not.

What a pleasure to have gorgeous, rare meat on a bun.

The milkshakes, I'll have to save for another time. But the Missus and I were impressed. It's a bold move, opening Flip, but you're in the right place, and we think you've got the right food. Burgers, milkshakes, fries...and imagination. All from (another) Long Island kid!

Went to Flip today for lunch after weeks of wanting to check it out and it was incredible! Good service, great food. I'm vegetarian, and the wild mushroom burger was perfect.

FLIP was great! It was also good to see you. Been awhile. Glad you are enjoying your new project.

I will have to try the lamb next, i think. I ate the cod this time. Very tasty!
